Béatrice Thiriet is a distinguished French composer and renowned figure in the world of film music. Recognized for her exceptional contributions, she has been honored as a Knight of the Order of Merit and a Knight of the Arts and Letters. Thiriet is a professor of musical composition at the Ecole Normale de Paris and holds significant roles, such as serving on the Supervisory Board of SACEM, as Vice President of the SNAC, and as a director at the European Film Academy. Her early musical training at the Conservatoire de Versailles and passion for theatre and cinema quickly led her to specialize in film scores, with opera and cinema being her primary focus. Thiriet's cinematic career was launched when she began collaborating with director Pascale Ferran, composing scores for films such as Petits arrangements avec les morts (1994) and Lady Chatterley (2006).
Throughout her career, she has worked with various prominent filmmakers and contributed to numerous films, including Bird People (2012), L'Astragale (2013), and Le Bonheur est pour demain (2023). Additionally, her work has earned her multiple accolades, such as the Fipa d'Or for Best Original Music and a nomination for the César Award for Best Film Music. Thiriet has also ventured into directing, creating short musical films, and remains a strong advocate for women in music through her radio programs.
