Shaji N Karun is a distinguished Indian film director and cinematographer. His cinematic journey began with the debut film "Piravi" in 1988 earned him Caméra d'Or – Mention d'honneur at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. Subsequent milestones include "Swaham" (1994), selected for the Cannes Film Festival, and "Vaanaprastham" (1999), and “Kutty Srank" (2009) stands out as an award-winning achievement. Shaji Karun's directorial repertoire extends to diverse works like the Hindi film "Nishad" (2002) and "Olu" (2018), a fantasy film that won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography. His career extends into roles as the Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and the Executive Chairman of the International Film Festival of Kerala. He now holds the position of Chairman at the Kerala State Film Development Corporation.
